Pursue Diverse Majors and Be Fluent in Chinese Language and Culture

To join the Flagship program, you can major in any field you wish, and in any college at the University of Minnesota. You will receive personalized advising to finish your degree plan and the Flagship program in a timely manner. In other words, you will complete your major and be fluent in Chinese, with special emphasis on fluency related to your major.

Our current and past students pursue majors as varied as global studies, political science, history, education, finance, business, chemistry, computer science, and biology.

Domain Tutoring, Overseas Courses in Chinese, and Internship

We provide one-on-one domain tutoring for students at more advanced levels to study and practice specialized vocabulary related to your discipline. Our domain tutors are often native speakers who are enrolled as UMN graduate students in the discipline. We have been actively developing domain tutorial materials for Flagship purposes.

If you spend your Capstone year at an overseas center (see Flagship Pathway), you have the opportunity to take direct-enrollment courses aligned with your career interests at a Chinese-speaking university with local students, and work in a related internship position to build your professional network and resume.
